(Mechanical Engineering & Civil, Electrical), Steno Grade-II, Assistant Grade 2 (Accounts, Technical, Depot, Hindi, & General), Typist (Hindi) in East, West, North, South & NE Zones. Nearly there are 4100 posts for all the mentioned posts. FCI JE Exam Pattern 2021

There are 2 phases in the exam pattern.

Phase I:

Marking Scheme for FCI
Paper Type No. of questions and Marks
Paper – I, Paper – III, and Paper V 120 questions each question carries 1 mark
Post specific Paper-II (in phase II) 60 questions each question carries 2 mark
Paper – IV (Subjective) 120 questions each question carries 1 mark  
Note: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer and Paper IV has no negative marking.

FCI Syllabus for Paper- I

  • General Aptitude consisting of Reasoning
  • General Intelligence, General Awareness, Current Events, Data Analysis, English Language, Computer Proficiency.
  • Numerical Ability.
  • Data Interpretation.

FCI Syllabus for Paper- II

FCI Syllabus for Civil Engineering (Code A):

Candidates can check the details of FCI Civil Syllabus which is given below. Candidates can also download the FCI JE Civil Syllabus in the official website @fci.gov.in.

  • Building Materials: Asbestos products, Timber and Wood-based Products, laminates, bituminous materials, Physical and Chemical properties building, stones, cement (Portland), paints, varnishes, etc.
  • Surveying: leveling and contouring, curvature,  Principles of surveying, plane table surveying, theodolite, permanent adjustment of dumpy level, methods of contouring, etc.
  • Soil Mechanics: Grain size, Atterberg’s limits, soil classification, soil moisture measurement, plasticity chart, permeability, void ratio, porosity, saturation, water content, the specific gravity of soil grains and unit weights, consolidation of soils. Lab tests, bearing capacity of soils, moisture content, plate load test, standard penetration test, etc.
  • Estimating, Valuation, and Costing: analysis of rates, Plastering flexible pavements, RCC work shuttering, earthwork, Brick, Estimate, Painting, Flooring, Tube well, isolates and combined footings, Steel Truss, Piles, etc.
  • Transportation Engineering: Pavement materials aggregates and bitumen, Design of flexible and rigid pavements, Types of pavements, bituminous construction, rigid pavement joint, pavement maintenance, Railway Engineering.
  • Environmental Engineering: Purification, distribution, Quality of water, sanitation, sewerage, and sewage treatments.
  • Structural Engineering: Theory of structures, eccentric loads, slope deflection, critical load and columns, bending moment and shear force diagrams retaining walls, torsion, etc.
  • Concrete Technology: water-cement ratio, workability, mix design, placement, compaction,  Latest technology and uses of concrete, finishing and curing of concrete, quality control of concrete, repair, and maintenance of a concrete structure, etc.
  • RCC Designs: Bond strength, the design of single reinforced beams, retaining walls, RCC flexural strength, shear strength, water tanks (RCC design questions may be based on both Limit State method and Working Stress method).
  • Steel Design: Beams, roof trusses, plate girders, Steel design and construction of steel columns. Construction Management: Construction scheduling Bar Chart, PERT and CPM, etc.

FCI Syllabus for Mechanical Engineering (Code B):

  • Concepts of current, energy and their units, voltage, power, Circuit law, AC Fundamentals, Electrical Machines, Synchronous Machines, Measurement and measuring instruments, Generation, Transmission and Distribution of power in different power stations.
  • Theory of Machines and Machine Design, Engineering Mechanics and Strength of Materials, Estimation and costing, Utilization of Electrical Energy, Basic Electronics.
  • Thermal Engineering, Boilers Refrigeration cycles, Air standard Cycles for IC engines, Rankine cycle of steam, Air Compressors & their cycles, Production Engineering and other Basic concepts.

 Assistant Grade-III (Accounts) (Code G):

  • Basic Accounting concept including preparation of books of accounts and Taxation including Income Tax and Goods and Services Tax.
  • Auditing: (a) Internal & External audit of companies  (b)Auditing concepts and methods.
  • Commercial Laws: (Basic Knowledge) (a)  Basics of Sales of Goods Act, (b) Basics of Company Act, (c) Basics of Contract Act, (d) Negotiable Instrument Act
  • Basic of Computers: (a) Operating System, (b) Chats, (c) Email, (d) Memory (Internal, External, portable), (e) Browsers, (f) Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), (g) Networks.

Assistant Grade-III (Technical) (Code H):

  • Agriculture:- Elementary entomology, Statics of Indian Agriculture (Cereals & Pulses), Plant Protection, Agricultural Economics.
  • Botany:- Genetics, Plant Classification, Cell Biology, Tissue, Organ & Organ System, Diversity, Ecology.
  • Life Process: Photosynthesis, Circulation, Respiration, Movement, etc, Basics of Biochemistry.
  • Zoology:- Organ System, Heredity & Variation, Animal Cell & Tissue, Animal Classification, Micro Organism, Insects & Rodents.
  • Chemistry:- Chemical bonding,
  • Organic Chemistry: Alkynes, alcohols, aldehydes and acids, Inorganic Chemistry, Basics of alkanes, alkenes, Chemistry in daily life.
  • Physics:- Basic Physics, Light, Measurements, Electricity.

FCI Syllabus for Paper- III

  • Two Passages, Hindi to English and vice-versa conversion.

FCI Syllabus for Paper- IV

The Candidates should use the following Keyboard Layouts. It is purely performance based.

  • Inscript
  •  Remington (GAIL)

FCI Syllabus for Paper- IV

  • General English, General Intelligence,  General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge
  • MS Word and basic knowledge of the Internet.
